Would you rather be feared, or loved?

Yes, you might ask me, what does that have to do with marketing and social media? Well, the real answer behind this is, that everyone that works in this field has this way of being scared of the client, or not even trusting their clients. For the sole reason of the fear of missing out (FOMO).

Building Trust through Strategic Honesty and Generosity in Marketing and Digital Presence Management:

Any client has the curiosity to ask what would you do to help them in the marketing field, or even when you manage their digital presence, whether social media or website. This curiosity is driven by the fact that they don’t trust your work ethic and instinct, for the simple fact that they don’t know you, and they never had the chance to work with you previously. This is one of the fact that they might fear you at first, and fear your strategies. So, what should I do in this case? Use selective honesty and generosity to disarm your victim. (48 laws of power, by Robert Greene). One sincere and honest move will cover dozens of dishonest ones. Open-hearted gestures of honesty and generosity bring down the guard of even the most suspicious people. Once your selective honesty opens a hole in their armor, you can deceive and manipulate them. A timely gift – a Trojan horse – will serve the same purpose.

Navigating the Fine Line Between Empowerment and Self-Preservation in Marketing:

“The fear of knowing too much”, is that we as service providers, could be a source of fear, not for adversaries, but for the people we know too damn well. In this way, we know that people tend to learn from our expertise, and later on apply these skills on their own. This could work for them, BUT, not for too long. Because, as a marketer, you are a resourceful person, knowing your surroundings and possessing a set of skills that may differ you from everyone. This is what I suggest you should do if you were faced with these people; learn to keep people dependent on you (48 Laws of power, by Robert Greene). To maintain your independence you must always be needed and wanted. The more you are relied on, the more freedom you have. Make people depend on you for their happiness and prosperity and you have nothing to fear. Never teach them enough so that they can do without you.

Leveraging Influence and Psychology in Marketing Consultancy:

Spread fear. Yes, you heard it right, spread fear. Not by terror, but by authority. Once you become an authority in what you do, in this case, marketing, you should never expect from people respect if you don’t show them a reason for it. Fear of missing out on what you do, what you write, and what you say. Actions speak louder than words, yes, but when your words are an authority, these words can be inspiring and respected. And in this case, you are feared because you are in a powerful consultancy position. How can I do this? Well, by “Working on the hearts and minds of others” (48 Laws of Power, by Robert Greene). Coercion creates a reaction that will eventually work against you. You must seduce others into wanting to move in your direction. A person you have seduced becomes your loyal pawn. And the way to seduce others is to operate on their psychologies and weaknesses. Soften up the resistance by working on their emotions, playing on what they hold dear and fear. Ignore the hearts and minds of others and they will grow to hate you….

So, you tell me dear reader, would you rather be feared, or loved?
